DID YOU KNOW that beekeeping opportunities were available to veterans returning home after the first World War? Rehabilitation and therapy services were provided to veterans to develop vocational skills and to support health and well-being.
Hives for Heroes® continues this mission today. It is a national nonprofit service organization that works to sustain, conserve and provide a safe transition from military service.*

Thank You for Joining Us on Painting Day
On June 13, 2026, over 40 friends, neighbors, and fellow beekeepers gathered at the home of backyard beekeepers, Nancy & Andrew, in Charlotte, NC, to prepare contributions to the Hives for Heroes beekeeping network.
Twenty 10-frame deep hive boxes were painted, decorated, and donated.
We hope the experience of community enriches our friends, our neighbors, and our veterans.
